My dear friend, Bel, introduced to me to Knuckles when we needed a spot for one of our clique’s frequent gossip sessions. She lives nearby and highly recommended it to us. At a glance, I quickly realised it was a German joint. Their menu boasts affordable prices with signature German dishes like Pork Knuckles and Sauerkraut. I also found out upon reaching that they do not charge GST nor service charge. BONUS.
What I Had
Before we headed there, I already knew I wanted the Truffle Mushroom pasta. Most of us ordered it too because it was just that yummy. The pasta was tossed in a truffle-infused creamy mushroom base that I will definitely be returning back for more.
We also ordered a Pork Steak ($8) which was served with mashed potato and salad that was although tasty, was quite ordinary in comparison to the Truffle Mushroom ($8). Still not satisfied, we got the Truffle Fries ($5) as well to compliment the meal which turned out to be quite disappointing.
With other Truffle Fries I’ve tried, the truffle aroma is more dominant or even pungent while the flavour usually hits your palette with a bang. However, this one was quite a letdown.
What I Loved
The ambience although at first quite ordinary is actually the highlight of it all. The atmosphere is so relaxed and chill, it is the perfect place to hang and chat up with old friends. Their tables look like overturned crates, giving off a very bar-like setting. In combination with the extremely affordable food and laid-back setting, I would definitely return for more than one visit.
