Huay Kwang Thai Kitchen

The Spot

Located along the long stretch of eateries at Thomson, this new hotspot, has been serving up the ever so popular, Mookata craze. You can pick the buffet, meat sets, or order à la carte for each portion depending on how greedy you feel. Diners also get to choose between two à la carte buffets, each at different prices.

At $19.90 (adults), $12.90 (children), you get to choose between meats, vegetables, mushrooms and other snacks like fishballs or hot dogs. However, at $29.90 (adults), $15.90 (children), the deluxe buffet gives you a wider selection of the cheaper alternative PLUS you get seafood. For both the buffets, you get to choose either a pork bone broth or a clear tom yum soup base.

Did I mention the deluxe buffet includes a free flow of drinks? Well, they do and while you may think “so what?”, wait for it……… THIS INCLUDES A FREE FLOW OF THAI MILK TEA! I could not contain my excitement upon hearing the waiter utter those words and ultimately let out a rather embarrassing squeal.

What I Had

Obviously, being me, I opted for the deluxe buffet with a pork bone broth. For meats, my family and I had multiple rounds of beef, prawns, pork, sausages, squid, and even cockles. Of course, we had vegetables like kang kong and broccoli to balance the meal and even added eggs and tofu to the mix. Thankfully, we did not order any rice further, having been thoroughly stuffed.

What I Loved

Apart from the free flow of Thai milk tea, I love how this outlet has their own handcrafted sauces to offer their diners which ups the authenticity. The extended variety they offer is definitely a huge boon to me since other spots I’ve visited have quite a limited range. This means that you’re not continuously eating the same thing over and over again. Aside from the extra $3 surcharge on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays, it surely is worth the visit.
