Chapter 55

The Spot

Located right along the streets of Tiong Bahru, this rustic looking eatery definitely draws the attention of passers-by especially with their ever so tempting 1 for 1 lunch deals on weekdays.

Upon entering, the first thing you will notice is its wide selection of gelato! Each scoop starts from $7 and up (yes, a tad pricey) however you will find extremely unique flavours like Lychee Martini and Rock Melon alongside a classic fave, Ferrero Rocher.

What I Had

To start things off, I got the Vongole ($18) for appetisers. The clams were sauteed quite nicely with garlic, chilli, and basil leaves all tossed together in a subtle white wine sauce.

As the 1 for 1 deal follows, I had the Buffalo Wings ($16) along for appetisers. Both savoury and spicy, these were actually quite addictive and were finished within minutes!

The Romana Pizza ($20) topped with button mushrooms, ham, tomato sauce and mozzarella cheese was served pretty quickly. However, to be honest, I could use a little more of a generous hand with the portion of toppings. All in all, delightful indeed.

The dish I was looking forward to the most, the Carbonara Spaghetti ($18) which comes along with bacon, egg yolk, & white wine cream sauce did let me down a tad bit. The spaghetti itself was a little overcooked for my liking and although the sauce helps to pull the dish together, it was rather underwhelming on the whole.

Finally, for dessert, I decided to try something different for a change and ordered their Tiramisu Classico ($15). The dessert itself was heavenly though I was quite surprised to find the portion to be pretty meagre. Perhaps next time, I shall aim for the waffles (a hot favourite) instead.

What I Loved

On top of their wondrous 1 for 1 deals, they don’t charge GST nor service charge! The super value for money dishes coupled with the cosy ambience alludes charm to both new and existing patrons (like myself). Do make sure to secure reservations especially during lunchtime as it definitely fills up pretty quick!
