The Masala Project recently opened its doors to diners with a wholesome, warm ambience. Though they have yet to start drawing in a whole crowd, they definitely have a little stream patrons who have begun to wander curiously right onto their doorstep. The menu offers a wide list of north indian cuisine though I am told there are dishes with a little of a modern twist in an attempt to create a more fusionist approach.
What I Had
To begin with, we decided to try out the Mango Salad ($5). Though one might chuckle at the adorable presentation in the dish, you can observe the amount of effort put into the littlest of details to impress their patrons.
Served with mint chutney, the Chicken Seekh Kebab ($8) was snapped up within a few minutes! Savoury and almost addictive, this is a great appetizer for any group, to begin with.
Though a little steep on the price, the smokey and succulent Tandoori Chicken ($16) was quite heavenly especially when paired with the mint chutney. This too was surprisingly devoured pretty quickly!
The Garlic Naan ($3 each) was soft and fluffy, just how I like it! Though a tad pricey, they offer a wide variety of bread baskets which are more value for money. Naturally, I had to get one of my all time favourites, the Butter Chicken ($8.50) to accompany my naan. Thoroughly satisfying, the luscious gravy had me unconsciously licking my spoon clean.
Apart from usual briyani options, they have one for those fickle minded briyani lovers. The Mix briyani ($7.50) was equally aromatic and bursting with flavour. Not to mention you get a rather generous portion for the price you pay, which is rather affordable.
For dessert, we got the Blueberry Cheesecake ($4.50) which we were told was handcrafted by the manager himself! Heavenly, buttery, crust accompanied with a super rich cheese filling and of course an uber flavourful blueberry glaze finish. This one will definitely have you craving for more.
What I Loved
The Project is essentially still young which means they will always be coming up with fresh, new ideas to keep you coming back for more. For now, though, the cheesecake shall be my latest addiction as I hope will be yours as well!
